Notes from Summer

What we’re cooking, listening to, and doing this summer.

EAT

There’s something special about summer dining; The fresh ingredients, simple flowers, and dining al fresco set the scene for memorable evenings.

On a recent friends trip to Lake Tahoe, we created a favorite summer meal of fresh lemon and ricotta pasta with blanched asparagus and peas, an easy and delicious dish that makes great leftovers for the beach. We set an effortless table by layering linens and adding bud vases of foraged buckwheat and golden-pink pennycress.

ESCAPE

On a quick midsummer getaway to The Madrona, we finally got to experience this beautiful Healdsburg property as guests. Upon arrival, we were transported to a relaxed state of mind as we made our way up the driveway flooded with soft dappled light. A true oasis, the property is filled with trees, beautiful gardens, delicious food, and of course, impeccably designed interiors.

We can’t wait to return in September to create the flowers for a beautiful wedding to cap off the season.
